I haven't been posting as of late. I no longer have the luxury of running my own business, so me being back in the work force has taken up a lot of my free time.

So that being said I will be taking a little break from blogging for a while. I thought about winging it from time to time, but what's the point of that.

AMA Endorses House Dems Healthcare Proposal

I will be the first to admit, I have been frustrated with democrats touting health care reform without having a plan or a clue about how to pay or structure it.

But the house dems have actually dug in and come up with a seemingly workable although pricey health care reform bill.

Their work on this proposal has apparently won them the support of the American Medical Association and at the same time dealt a blow to the republicans opposition toward reform. Having the AMA supporting the Democrats plan will go a long way to winning over public support.

I still don't know how this thing will work, who's going to pay for it, or if it can be past. I guess we will just sit back and watch.

Disliking Palin & Her Views Does Mean I Hate Her & God

Why does the left hate Sarah Palin and her family? Why is she the victim of constant and demeaning attacks from left-wing liberals?

Those are some of the questions the conservative media and her supporters ask when it comes to the scrutiny that Sarah Palin has seen since she first appeared on the political stage.

This is nothing new when it comes to the right and left bickering about their own political sweethearts. Although it's business as usual with attacks and accusations, I take offense to a post done by Stuart Schwartz over at American Thinker:

Sarah Palin loves God. God loves Sarah Palin.

And that is why they hate her...and Him.

And why she -- and He -- will be back.

That's the first few sentences of his post, which of course prompted me to write this one. Political attacks or criticism even from Christians happen often and have for years. If you do not share a moral belief with a religious leader and are in a position to help mandate and create law, you are always subject to being attacked by them because they fear you are going against what God wants.

That love, an essential part of her everyday life, holds out the hope of a return to the nation envisioned by the unapologetically spiritual generation that birthed the U.S. Like Ronald Reagan, of whom it was said that his relationship with God "had a profound affect on how he lived, on what he did, and on those around him," Sarah Palin's spirituality has affected every part of her life, allowing her to clearly recognize the evil that has leached into our political and media culture.

Sarah Palin is both usual and unusual. She is usual in that she is in the mainstream of those who believe in American exceptionalism, the 71 percent who are "very proud" of being American. At the same time, she is unusual in that she views and conducts herself not as a politician -- which she is -- but a citizen who sees public office as an opportunity to serve. Interwoven in all of this is the confidence that comes from knowing that God loves her, up close and personal, an integral part of her Christian faith and central to Judeo-Christian culture.

It's funny how someone who has never personally met Sarah Palin seems to know so much about her personal and private relationship with God that he believe she is doing this for her country and God and not to serve her own personal political goals.

Conservative political candidates who have fallen as of late have used God and their Christian faith to help them rise in power in politics, much like what Sarah Palin has done. Yet she is different and not deserving of criticism, so say conservatives.

She is no different than any democrat, republican or independent who touts they want to make a difference and fight for you and make change. Much like Obama who used "Change" as his slogan to claim the White House, she will do nothing more than become a bureaucrat who serves self interest groups and fat cats who got her where she is going.

If we continue to put our hopes into leaders who use their strengths to lure willing subjects to the voting booth, we will continue this path of pointing fingers at fellow Americans and calling each other the enemy.

I wish Sarah Palin all the best, but I think she will only serve herself and not God. For unfortunately our elected officials serve only what keeps them in office...... not what got them there.

Dick Cheney Gets a Bone From Obama

In a show of respect or just the code, president Obama has extended Secret Service protection to former vice president Dick Cheney.

US News:

There appears no end in sight for when Dick Cheney, a rare former vice president with Secret Service protection, will lose his security detail. Whispers has learned that the political battler's Secret Service protection has been extended, though there were no details on the length. We don't know why President Obama OK'd the extension, which must be approved by the commander in chief because former veeps typically don't get any Secret Service security after leaving office. But indications are that the threats against Cheney, who's working on his biography at his homes in Virginia and Maryland, haven't lessened since his term expired.

It seems ol' Dicks's fan base or rather fanatic base is as strong and alive as it was in office.

He sure is lucky that president Obama was kind enough to let him use American's hard earned tax dollars to keep his enemies at bay.

Widely Used Right Wing Pic Quickly Debunked

Several right-wing blogs picked up on a photo from the G8 summit involving president Obama and President Sarkozy. I have said before a still frame in a series of shots can look very decieving and of course the mind wonders.

The above shot looks as if Obama and Sarkozy are caught oggling a 16 year old girl and she passes them.

Well the media including Fox News has quickly debunked the folks who roll with the punches and call him a perve vs. knowing the whole story.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, well this video is priceless........

Black Kids Kicked out of Swim Club Because "They Change the Complexion of Swim Club"

The sign that hangs at the swim club reads "Valley Club, swimming since 1954". However this is not a story from the 1950's in a small southern town. This is 2009 in liberal Philadelphia.

“I heard this lady, she was like, ‘Uh, what are all these black kids doing here?’ She’s like, ‘I’m scared they might do something to my child,’” said camper Dymire Baylor.

That was overheard by one of the parents once seeing black children playing and enjoying their summer in the pool.

I would like to say this is something that surprises me in this day and age, but alas no surprise.

The 60 Black children were told to leave and never return. The day care where the children were from had paid nearly $2,000 in advance for a access to the pool every Monday for the course of the summer, but according to the Fox affiliate in Philly, the check was returned in full.

The reason for asking the children to leave? The Valley Club’s president, John Duesler, said in a statement: “There was concern that a lot of kids would change the complexion … and the atmosphere of the club.”

Duesler admitted some club members had complained, but said none of the complaints were race-related.

Fortunately the kids have found a new place to swim thanks to the staff at Girard College, a private Philadelphia boarding school for children who live in low-income and single parent homes.

“We had to help,” Girard College director of Admissions Tamara Leclair is quoted as saying. “Every child deserves an incredible summer camp experience.”

Normally I am not quick to jump and scream racism, but this troubles me. The club president statement is extremely vague and provides no valid reason for not allowing the children there besides race. He choice of the word "complexion" pretty much sums it up for me.

Tom Coburn Advised Ensign to Pay Off Lover

Conservatives are big on morals and values. We democrats of course are heathens who live and love the world of sin.

That being said will conservatives lose trust and respect for Tom Coburn knowing that he knew about John Ensign's affair and advised him to pay her off to keep quiet?

Coburn didn't do anything illegal or unethical actually, all he did was give advice. But being in the republican party means no skeletons in your closet, and if you advise someone else on how to keep their closet secret, how many bones do you have stacked up in yours?

Sen. Tom Coburn knew more than a year ago that his Republican colleague John Ensign was having an affair with a staffer – and he reportedly urged Ensign to end the relationship and pay a substantial sum of money to the staffer and her husband.

Doug Hampton – the husband of Ensign’s mistress – told Las Vegas Sun columnist Jon Ralston in a television interview Wednesday that Coburn and others had urged Ensign to give the couple “millions of dollars” so that they could pay off their mortgage and move away from Ensign’s hometown of Las Vegas.

Asked about that allegation Wednesday, Coburn’s office confirmed that the he knew about Ensign’s affair and had urged him to end it.

Fox News Contributor Gives Palin Solid Criticism

Liz Trotta, Fox News contributor in my opinion gave a very fair criticism of Sarah Palin overall. It is pretty much how I have felt about her. She is just not cut out for political life. She is better off running a Tea Party type organization, where she can draw support and voice her views, not being leader of the free world.

Ms. Trotta, who is a veteran in journalism for many years and is a republican, voices what I believe are the feelings of most republicans vs. the far-right and conservatives.

What is a Real American?

I admire Sarah Palin for her work in Alaska and her dedication for her beliefs, even though I do not see eye to eye with her.

So while we may not agree some some big issues, I would like Mika Brzezinski of "Morning Joe" to explain to me what a real American is why I am not one.

I like Mika a lot. She carries herself well and doesn't over talk people. She took some heat this morning for the "real Americans" quote so she had to clarify her statement later in the show:

Palin Quits While Giving a Horrible Press Conference

The shocker of the day, Sarah Palin quits. While I have never been a fan of hers since she hit the spotlight (mainly because she was nowhere near ready), I have never called her names or acted like a complete idiot like some of my other fellow democrats have. I had nothing personally against her, I just thought she came out of her element too soon.

This press conference in my opinion seems to come at a horrible time for her image. She was still under criticism from the left and still not in total solid ground with the republican party, this whole press conference and her reasoning seemed very sloppy.

Even the conservative blogs were critical of her speech. From Ed Morrissey at HotAir.com:

I’ve had a chance to watch the video of her announcement and read through dozens of Twitter messages back and forth attempting to rationalize this, and still, it simply can’t be rationalized on the basis of what Palin said today. It’s easily the most bizarre resignation I’ve seen, and just about senseless.

The lame-duck explanation was the most incoherent part of the entire statement.

Also in his post:

I’ve seen a myriad of excuses on Twitter and e-mail for this bizarre resignation: her legal bills are too high, she’s putting her family first, she doesn’t want to distract Alaskans because of cheap-shot ethics complaints that are distracting everyone. None of those make any sense. If the spotlight was too much, then she shouldn’t have run for office in the first place.

If she’s quitting because people are taking potshots at her, then she’s not the kind of political fighter we thought she was. The legal bills might be a rational reason, but thoroughly insufficient for betraying the people who put her in charge of Alaska — and her memoirs would have paid for her legal bills many times over, had she completed her term.

If she plans to run for president in 2012, this move was not the best way to line up at the starting line for the biggest political race of her life......

Teacher Gives Homemade Sex Tape to Fifth Graders

(No this is not the teacher)

I had a crush on several of my grammar school teachers in my day I admit. I guess I hit puberty early. I would stare at the teachers with the tight skirts and revealing tops all day. However I'm not sure how I would have reacted or have even known what I was looking at if my teacher sent me home with a sex tape:

A local teacher accidentally put pornography into a DVD that was meant to be filled with school memories from the past year, and nobody caught the error until after it was sent home, shocking parents and students alike.

Parents of students who attend Isabelle Jackson Elementary said that the woman is a good teacher, but just made a mistake that may become the most embarrassing moment of their life.

The offending DVD starts with a menu screen that displays various school trips and functions, and when you click on one of them, you see kids in a classroom sharing stories. They start clapping, then the video suddenly cuts to sex.

I probably would have stared for as long as possible before my mother would have jumped in front of the television to block my view. My mother also would have raised high hell the next day, while my father would have played the "I'm outraged role" while requesting to privately view what made my mom was so upset.

“It goes from my son, straight to her on the couch,” said ‘Joe,’ who saw the video along with his son and did not wish to be identified. “My son’s reaction was, ‘Dad, is that Ms. Defanti?’”

“We were up till midnight doing the ‘birds and the bees,’” he added.

The person in the video turned out to be Isabelle Jackson Elementary fifth grade teacher Crystal Defanti.

“All she could say was that it was a horrible mix up,” Joe said.

The teacher called his home the day after his child got the DVD, crying hysterically, profusely apologizing and asking the man and his wife to call every parent they knew to stop their kids from seeing the DVD too.

The Elk Grove Unified School District says they are investigating, but legal experts say it's unlikely that the teacher will lose her job.

"It's felony stupid, but it's not a crime," said defense expert Ken Rosenfeld. "Is it something that she should be disciplined for? Absolutely, but fired for? She didn't intend for this to happen."

Joe doesn't care if the teacher keeps her job, he'd just like some help from the school.

"Maybe offer some sort of counseling for my children, ask me how my children are doing," he said. "I want somebody to ask me the kind of questions my kids are asking me."

School officials say a new DVD will be sent to students once it has been reviewed.

I'm not sure this is something that I would want her to be fired over. I would however have her transferred to another school and definitely have a counselor talk to the kids. Sadly the little video these kids were able to view is nothing compared to what they have access to on the internet or at their local library.
